Do you believe, as some do, that love is hard work? Or do you believe that love is easy and all about warm fuzzies? Do you believe in love at first sight or in taking time to build a relationship? I’ve spent a lot of time lately talking to experts, reading and thinking about love and relationships. [...]

What to do During Christmas Break

Now that the big day has passed, the to-do list is torn up, and gifts have been opened, it’s time for vacation. The kids are out of school, you and your hubby have some vacation time, and you’re wondering what to do during Christmas break. I know moms everywhere are pulling out craft projects, games and ‘field trips’ to keep the kids happy and occupied. But what about you? And what about that great guy you married? Are you planning to spend some time with your husband, time for just the two of you?
A Very Tiny Little Homemade Gift

I’ve heard people say they would like to make their Christmas cards but they just don’t have time. I’ve thought about doing this myself but have stopped because it just feels so overwhelming to make a huge stack of cards. Well, this year I thought I’d do something new and just make one or two cards for special friends. Like you, I have special people in my life who I don’t see as often as I’d like and who I don’t usually see during the holidays. We don’t exchange gifts and when I send them a card I feel like I’m missing something.

Today is Sweetest Day. I like Sweetest Day Celebrations better than Valentine’s Day. Maybe it just goes back to my personality trait of not liking anyone telling me what to do or maybe it’s a matter of pressure. It just feels like there’s less pressure on Sweetest Day than Valentine’s Day which lets it be more about what I want. You may want to take advantage of this less-hyped holiday yourself so here are some quick and fun Sweetest Day celebration ideas:

Yesterday was the anniversary of the Star Trek TV premier and a great opportunity to build bonds with our kids. Let me explain. When my husband was growing he had a family night which included pizza and the weekly Star Trek episode. He has fond memories of spending time with his family and enjoying their company while pigging out on pizza.

Yesterday I ran my first 5k race. My daughter had signed up for Girls on Track which is a program for middle school girls (Girls on the Run is the elementary school version) that is designed to get them running while building self-esteem and hopefully begin a love of activity.
The girls have been training and doing other fun activities and it all culminated in a 5k run. We were supposed to arrive at the race by 5:00 with opening ceremonies at 6:00 and the race starting at 6:30. The only problem was that it was about 45 degrees and raining.
There are Only 3 Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day

I posted a new article about celebrating Mothers’ Day on www.bizymoms.com. Here’s an excerpt and the link:
There are essentially three ways you can celebrate Mothers’ Day:
1. The way you want
2. The way your husband and kids want
3. The way your mother wants
All kidding aside, I’ve always found Mothers’ Day to be an odd holiday. Read more…
That’s an interesting perspective

I was blown away by Lisa’s simple advice on yesterday’s Heart Filled Holidays radio show! Just one comment changed everything for me as it shifted the way I think about communication. The idea that we have control over our message feels really great. It takes away the helplessness we sometimes feel when faced with a difficult relationship in our life. It gets rid of the whining and moves us forward, looking for solutions.
