It’s that time of year again, time to get the kiddies off to school. This is also a time of year when moms get excited about having some routine in their life. Summer is wonderful but the constant ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ mentality can get really old. Personally I’m one of the moms looking forward to a little more routine. The other day I experienced one of those blinding-flash-of-the-obvious moments. It had been really hot and humid so we had been running the air conditioning for several days. Then, in the early afternoon, I went out to run some errands…and it was gorgeous! It was 76 degrees and sunny with a nice breeze. And here we had spent the morning inside the house, complaining that it was kind of warm in there, when we could have opened the windows and enjoyed the wonderful weather.

3. The way your mother wants

All kidding aside, I’ve always found Mothers’ Day to be an odd holiday. Read more…

But what if you could start designing the holiday you dream of without having to worry about your family’s opinions?

I just got a text message from my dad telling me he was putting away the Christmas decorations and while he was packing up the box that’s covered in tiny footprints his mind was flooded with memories. And this is what holidays, traditions and celebrations are all about.

I’m enjoying the blessings of “found time”. The kids had a snow day and got to stay home from school today so I decided to tweak my schedule too. As I thought about what I wanted to do this morning I decided that although I need to do some work today, my highest priority would be creating a relaxed, happy, Christmas mood. So early this morning I turned on the tree and worked on Tom’s Christmas present (and it’s almost done! woo hoo!).
