I was thinking about past celebrations with my family. On the 8-22-11 radio show I shared the story of one of my birthday celebrations. My absolute favorite part of that day was watching my husband and girls frost my birthday cake. They were so adorable and having so much fun. It was absolutely priceless. The greatest gifts are the simple pleasures.

It’s that time of year again, time to get the kiddies off to school. This is also a time of year when moms get excited about having some routine in their life. Summer is wonderful but the constant ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ mentality can get really old. Personally I’m one of the moms looking forward to a little more routine. Yes, I know that once 3:00 hits things will be crazy with homework, activities and kids jobs, but from 7:30-3:00 I’m in control of my own destiny.
And yet…I don’t want the school days to make our life feel routine.

A mom’s life is wonderful and full, sometimes too full. Sometimes we find that our to-do list and our commitments are outstripping our energy or just taking more hours than we have in the day. We often notice this when holidays or special events pop up because there just isn’t any room left to make them happen much less enjoy them. Well, the good news is that there are things you can do and I’ve posted an article that can help over on Bizymoms so pop on over and read it here (click through to the blog for the live link).

Handing out consequences for poor behavior is never fun but is a necessary part of parenting. Discipline is all about shaping behavior which includes handing out consequences but in the big picture it’s about shaping our children. That means we need to educate them. We can do this through all the positive parenting techniques we [...]

I posted a new article about celebrating Mothers’ Day on www.bizymoms.com. Here’s an excerpt and the link:
There are essentially three ways you can celebrate Mothers’ Day:
1. The way you want
2. The way your husband and kids want
3. The way your mother wants
All kidding aside, I’ve always found Mothers’ Day to be an odd holiday. Read more…

As I chuckled my way through ‘Confessions of a Packaholic’ it reminded me of a trip Tom & I took to England. We were living in Germany at the time and our first child was only 7 months old. We decided to spend 2 1/2 weeks touring England and Scotland.

March is International Women’s Month which is celebrated more in the U.K. and Canada than it is in the U.S. so many of us aren’t even aware that it’s happening.
While many people will be taking a historical view and celebrating the great women in history who have contributed so much to our world, I encourage you to take a celebratory view. It’s the perfect time to celebrate the women in your life, starting with yourself.
All this celebrating is exhausting!

Here you are, in the midst of planning a party, cleaning up after a celebration or just thinking about the next holiday, and you feel totally exhausted. At a time when you want to feel elated, energized and excited you are just too pooped to care.

I saw this phrase today and it just screamed at me to blog about it. So I wonder, am I supposed to talk about what you’re choosing to do right now, being truly present in each moment, or the present we give?

I saw two comments from friends on FaceBook that combine perfectly, just like chocolate and peanut butter. And just like chocolate and peanut butter it may seem like an odd combination but give it a chance and you might become as addicted as I am to Reese’s!
One friend said, “Did you ever notice your plate is overflowing , but …
